BREAKING: STIPE MIOCIC OUT OF UFC FIGHT NIGHT 76 CO-MAIN EVENT AGAINST BEN ROTHWELL
MMAOddsBreaker.com can now formally confirm UFC Heavyweight Stipe Miocic has been forced from his upcoming UFC Fight Night 76 bout against Ben Rothwell due to an unspecified training accident. Both top 10 fighters were scheduled to throw down in the co-main event of following Saturday’s (October 24, 2015) event in Dublin, Ireland, that is headlined by the lightweight battle involving Joseph Duffy and Dustin Poirier and will be streamed live on UFC Fight Pass. Miocic (#3 ranked HW) was coming off the most impressive performance of his career, a fifth round TKO stoppage of former title challenger Mark Hunt where he place a UFC heavyweight record for the majority of strikes landed in a single struggle. He has won four of his last five fights with his only loss being a decision against former champion Junior dos Santos. Rothwell (#7 rated HW) is currently riding a three-fight win series which comprised surprising first round upset stoppage victories over both Matt Mitrione and Alistair Overeem. There’s been no word yet regarding if Rothwell is going to be forced off the battle card entirely or whether or not UFC matchmakers are going to be able to find a last minute replacement for Miocic.
