Cubs vs. Pirates MLB Pick – August 18th

It was terrifying at the 8th and 9th inning for the Chicago Cubs yesterday day, but the bullpen ultimately got the work done to secure a 2-0 success. The night before, the Cubs managed to dismiss what looked like a secure lead in the 9th. But an identical fate was not likely to take place again for the Cubs. Rowan Wick and tyler Chatwood combined to pitch three perfect innings, allowing no hits and no runs. The mistake was Tyler Chatwood. Chatwood has developed the Cubs have in their bullpen. Joe Maddon only has not been utilizing him enough, often turning into his traditional relievers rather than Chatwood, who has mainly been used as a rookie in his profession. One of the problems with not turning into Chatwood more frequently is the amount of work that he gets out of the bullpen. After things are rolling, he’s usually eclipsing 3 innings about the bump, so that chooses him from the equation to the next moment. Maddon has been careful to maintain his arm down the stretch for the most important time of the normal season. But after blowing off what should happen to be a sure triumph on Friday night, the Cubs needed to visit Chatwood to find some of their mojo back in the clubhouse. Jon Lester must find some recognition in that spot as well. Lester was moving through conflicts, but appears to be back to the ideal track. The Cubs are going to require him down the stretch if they wish to be playing in October. Lester was eloquent in 6 innings, having allowed only 4 hits and no runs. The Cubs will turn into Jose Quintana tonight, even although the Pirates will proceed with Mitch Keller on Sunday Night Baseball. Head below for our free Cubs vs. Pirates pick. Betting odds supplied by Mitch Keller will be making just his fifth major league start this evening and it comes from primetime on Sunday Night Baseball. The beginner is getting some valuable experience up at the big leagues with the Pirates. It’s been a choppy start to his profession, using a couple horrible outings and a few that went pretty well. His very best effort came from his most recent outing, as he had been sharp with just 1 earned run enabled in five innings against the Angels in Anaheim. In his additional positive outing, Keller surrendered 4 hits and 2 earned runs into the Tigers at home. The Tigers have one of the worst crimes in baseball, and that could have just been a consequence of playing a bad team. Keller was abysmal against the Braves and Reds in his other two excursions, permitting 12 earned runs in 7 innings of work. Fortunatelyhe managed to bring his numbers down from the Tigers and the Angels, but the damage was done. Keller heads into Sunday night with an ERA of both 7.94 along with 2.00 WHIP. He would get a huge rush of assurance if tonight demonstrates to be a victory night in the office. I am not so sure he gets out of this one with a leading stat line, though. The Cubs slept yesterday afternoon and holding them down like that again is going to be tough for the Pirates. The Pirates have a date. He has been throwing extremely well lately. The Athletics and Phillies scored just two runs in complete across 13 innings of play against Quintana. Quintana goes into this one with an impressive 1.89 ERA and also 0.79 WHIP in his previous three outings. It has been five outings since he has allowed more than 3 runs in a beginning and 3 or less runs in seven of his last eight appearences. The Pirates are hitting just .202 with 3 home runs strike against Quintana in 124 showings in the plate. The Cubs have had their struggles on the street in 2019, however, look for them to wrap this up road trip with a win on Sunday Night Baseball.
